It can be profitable for foreigners not only to invest in the Latvian economy, but also to export goods and services from Latvia.

A wide range of information on import and export opportunities for Latvian and foreign businesses can be found in English at the Latvian Investment and Development Agency’s (LIDA) foreign trade website at www.exim.lv.

The website’s target audience is both foreign and local businessmen and organisations, who have the chance to place their own business announcements, while Latvian businesspeople can also post their own company’s business profile. In addition, the site provides information on events both in Latvia and abroad.

The website consists of 4 sections:

• “Companies” – A database of Latvian companies;
• “Proposals” – business announcements;
• “Events” – information on events taking place both in Latvian and abroad (commercial exhibitions, seminars, conferences);
• “Market info” – general economic information.

It should also be noted that the LIDA organises an exchange of business contacts both in Latvia and abroad. In Latvia, the aim of this is to bring together potential cooperation partners, while overseas it is done to introduce potential cooperation partners from different countries at previously arranged meetings.
