Herder Square
Herder Square, originally called Small Scales Square, first appeared in the city's layout in 1650.
The present appearance of Herder Square was acquired at the end of the 19th century when buildings were dismantled at the west Dome Square. In 1864 the square was named after Herder in honour of the 100th anniversary since his visit to Riga. Herder's bust modeled after Weimar's monument was unveiled here. This was the first monument to a cultural icon in Riga.
