The sun to help heat water in Riga’s buildings

The Riga municipality is planning to utilise modern technology to heat water in Riga’s buildings with solar energy.

Solar collectors are to be installed on rooftops.

A project is being drawn up on reducing Co2 emissions, where three different types of collectors initially set up on three welfare housing buildings to determine which are the most suitable.

The project’s costs are being estimated at LVL 280,000, with LVL 210,000 of it covered by the Environment Ministry, but LVL 66,000 from private investors - "Koka māju fabrika Ltd." and "Baltic Master Ltd.". The Riga City Council said that the city will pay the rest.
