Riga Christmas Tree by mail

In order to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the Riga Christmas Tree, the national postal service Latvia Post has created a special post stamp and envelope. Thus everyone can now receive the unique Riga Christmas tree by mail in any part of the world.

The first decorated Christmas tree was set up in Riga Town Hall Square in 1510. In the first two post stamps issued by the Latvia Post, the House of the Blackheads can be seen at the back of the tree adorned by antique decorations from the collection of the Latvian National History Museum. The third stamp features a Christmas tree with an antique decoration. A memorial plaque dedicated to the Christmas tree is also illustrated in this stamp.

In addition to the stamps, the first day envelope and stamps have also been issued, featuring a decorated Christmas tree and the season’s greeting: “Merry Christmas!”

The envelopes and stamps can be bought at the postal offices. However, in case they have run out of stock, they can be ordered by mail. By using the express mail of Latvia Post, the order will be delivered in 24 hours to any place in Latvia, for instance, to the hotel or campsite you are staying. All you have to do is to order the stamps and envelopes from the official website of Latvia Post: www.pasts.lv. Orders can be made in Latvian, English or Russian.
