Riga port opens cruise season

On May 4 the cruise season was officially opened at Riga Freeport - Latvia’s largest port in terms of passenger numbers and cargo turnover.

On May 14, the Latvian capital welcomed the “Mona Lisa”, scheduled to arrive May 22 – “Princess Daphne”, May 26 – “Costa Magic”, but May 31 – “Mein Schiff”.

For the hours your ship is docked, take the opportunity to stroll through quaint Old Town – just a 10-minute walk from the passenger port. The striking Art Nouveau neighbourhood is just 15-20 minutes away, whose main street is Alberta iela, named after the bishop who founded Riga.

Rigaplans to greet 66 cruise ships this year with at least 65,000 passengers. Some of them expected will dock in Riga for the very first time – the U.S. liner “Vision of the Seas”, “Mein Schiff” from Germany, “Regatta”, “Nordic Queen”, and the expedition ship “Clipper Adventure”.

Regular ferry service from Riga port is available to Stockholm and Lubeck.
