Unique concert by African dance group in Riga

The Latvian National Opera (3 Aspazijas Boulevard) is holding the performance BOYAKODAH by the Georges Momboye dance group from France on October 4 at 7pm. This will be their only show in the Baltic States.

TheGeorges Momboye dance company was created by choreographer Georges Momboye from Côte d'Ivoirein 1992. The group is highly professional, artistic and energetic, with a distinct technique and rich imagination. The dance group has been awarded at many prestigious international dance festivals.

Georges Momboye is an emerging star from the new generation of choreographers. In creating performances, he draws inspiration from African traditional, classical and contemporary dance movements and gestures, even hip hop, which are then combined into a unique piece of art. Momboye's work reaches out to people in an comprehensible dance language – an ode to the body's creative energy and the universal rhythm of dance.

Performed by both dancers and musicians, BOYAKODAH (meaning happiness in the Guéré language) is a true ode to life, seeking a balance between body and soul, rhythm and silence, and evoking man’s ultimate and absolute aspiration to happiness and pleasure.
