The Clock Tower, designed by Leningrad Institute "Lengiprotrans", was unveiled in 1965. Initially it was also a water tower which provided the necessary water pressure for the entire supply system of the station. The original clock featured a dial and arms; later it was changed to an electronic board.
Its height - 43 metres, with the letters RIGA - 46 metres, diameter - 4.2 metres.
Renovated in 2003 according to the Constructivism style of the 1960s with the intention of making the railway station a complete ensemble. The renovators adjusted the inaccuracy of the original project so that it can be seen from one end to another end of Raiņa Boulevard. An interesting fact: during the reconstruction, the designers of the new projects left their watches in the concrete at the bottom of the tower.
The clock's 658 light bulbs are changed once in two years. The present clock was produced by Perrot, the signal for the correct time is received from Frankfurt.
