Until World War I, Provodnik manufactured tires, surgical equipment, galoshes, linoleum, underwater suits, toys and rubberised fabrics. The products were well known in Russia and all over the world. During the war all the equipment was evacuated to Russia, and the factory never fully restored afterward.
In 1946 the premises were taken over by the company 'Riga Electric Machine Building Works' which manufactured crane motors, electrical equipment, wagon trains, tram lighting equipment, and other products. The factory became the leading producer of these items in the Soviet Union.
Today, Provodnik is no longer engaged in manufacturing.
