Ilya Lipkin is a Riga-born artist, who grew up in New York but currently lives in Berlin. His recent photographic work deals with the merging of public and corporate space. Though Lipkin’s photos are taken in New York, Berlin, and other cities, they impart an eerie sense of sameness. The artist plans a similar approach with his upcoming photo series specially for kim?, which is being put together in Riga and documenting the artist's place of birth and more specifically the suburb he was born in - Purvciems, where he spent the first seven years of his life.

2017 marks the 125th anniversary of the artist Aleksandra Beļcova (1892-1981). To celebrate this event, the Romans Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova Museum is organizing three exhibitions - all of them dedicated to the artist, where visitors will be able to get acquainted in more detail with her work. During the anniversary year, the museum will feature exhibitions of only Beļcova's work, with a separate exhibition featuring works from her spouse Romans Suta (1896-1944) also being organized. These exhibitions will be held simultaneously at the Latvian National Museum of Art and the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design.

One of the brightest features of Latgale and the Latvian traditional culture in general is Latgalian ceramics that has still preserved the ancient pottery traditions. Latgalian pottery has been included in Latvia's Cultural Canon.
