The contemporary arts forum "White Night 2011", in its sixth year, presents concerts, film screenings, and theatre and visual arts performances, offering you an opportunity to observe and participate in the creative process.

The contemporary arts forum "White Night 2011" will run at night between September 10 and 11 under the motto "Say neither yes nor no, neither white nor black!".

This year's forum is based on the Latvian game "Say neither yes nor no, neither white nor black" in order to introduce art and events through creative expression, involving spectators in events and explaining contemporary art in a simple way.

On the "White Night 2011" programme there are theatre, music, films, movement and visual art performances, among them "Radio Garden" in the NabaKlub and "Videography VI" by NABA in the historic pavilion of Matīsa Market, "Survival Kit 3" by the Latvian Centre for Contemporary Art, the Poetry Video Festival, the Baltic new music, video art and design project, and more.

As usual, the "White Night 2011" will see Riga galleries, cafes, bookshops, culture institutions and other places open throughout the night.

"White Night" is part of the joint "European White Nights" project by Brussels, Madrid, Paris, Riga and Rome. The project determines that the "White Night" programme of each participating city must include a work by an active artist from another partner city. The idea of the night is also adopted by Amsterdam, Bucharest, Porto and Valletta (Malta), as well as Toronto, Tokyo, Montreal, Chicago and other cities. "White Night" has been a tradition in Riga for six years already. Last year it attracted about 40,000 inhabitants and visitors to the city.

Organised by the Culture Department at Education, Culture and Sport Committee of Riga City Council.
