The event will commence with one of the most intriguing films of this season, which has already caused much controversy and provoked outrage of the bourgeois critics of the Cannes Film Festival - "Sleeping Beauty", the directional debut of Australia's Julia Leigh, which was produced and brought to Cannes by the famous Jane Campion.

The movie marathon will continue with the erotic musical "Underwater Love" - a collaboration between the acclaimed cinematographer Christopher Doyle (cinematographer in films directed by Gus Van Sant, Jim Jarmusch and Wong Kar-wai), Japanese pink film director Shinji Imaoka and electropop duo "Stereo Total". The bold experiment and untamed fantasy of the talented authors has resulted in an 87-minute-long fun ride with upbeat sex scenes against the background of wild nature.

But for the audience not to lose touch with the reality completely, in conclusion the film lovers will be offered a nail-biting story about an original way to improve one's family life and overcome the mid-life crisis - Tom Tykwer's ("Run Lola Run", "Perfume") film "Three". The film was included in the Venice Film Festival's programme and has won many European film awards. The film will be a resounding accord that will move even the most experienced cinemaniacs.

Tickets to the festival can already be bought at "Biļešu serviss" and cinema "Rīga" outlets, and from August 20 - at Riga Congress Centre, the venue of the "Baltic Pearl" festival.

All films will be screened in 35-millimetre with simultaneous translation in two languages, Latvian and Russian. Filmgoers will have to bring along their headphones with standard 3.55 mm connector if they wish to watch the films with translation in Latvian or Russian.
