A number of events will be held in September 2011 to mark the 90th anniversary of the Art Academy of Latvia. The first and only Latvian art academy was officially opened on October 12, 1921.

This year the Art Academy not only marks its 90th anniversary but also the 50th anniversary since the establishment of the Textiles Department, Metallic Art Department and Design Department, on the basis of which the current Design Department was established.
