Edible amber, money pillows and other Latvian designer achievements at 2011 Baltic Furniture Fair

Latvian money pillows, Led Zeppelin staircase, specially-designed edible amber, crisis coffee table, glass rolling pin - these are just a few of the fabulous art objects designed in Latvia to be displayed at the Baltic furniture and interior exhibition "Baltic Furniture 2011".

The Latvian Designers Society will have its display stand to present the latest works by Latvian designers and announce the winner of the Design Award of the Year, as part of the 2011 Baltic Furniture Fair running in Ķīpsala Exhibition Center from October 6 to 9.

This year the Best Design Award winners will be chosen by a jury from among 101 contenders competing for prizes in seven categories: "Interior Design", "Environment Design", "Fashion / Textile Design", "Photo Design", "Industrial Design", "Graphic Design" and "Packing Design". The awarding ceremony will take place in Ķīpsala on October 7.

The Baltic Furniture Fair will also feature a joint exhibition of Baltic furniture manufacturers mainly featuring fine and functional furniture and design.
