Nordic Symphony

Nordic+Symphony
Nordic sentiment in art has always appealed to the Latvian public. In this concert, a northerly mood will be created by Latvian audience's favourite, Estonian maestro Olari Elts, who became the principal guest conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra in 2011.

Estonian maestro Olari Elts will offer his reading of Sibelius' Second Symphony, one of the most dramatic pieces by the Finnish composer. The outstanding Latvian National Symphony Orchestra violinist Sandis Šteinbergs will take on the solo part in Bernstein's unusual "Serenade" violin concerto inspired by Plato's "Symposium", the dialogue famous as a panegyric to love.

Programme:

Leonard Bernstein "Serenade" for Solo Violin, Strings, Harp and Percussion

Jean Sibelius Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 43
