Promotion of Latvian music is one of the most vital priorities of the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, therefore this season the orchestra introduces a new concert series titled "Pearls of Latvian Music".

The three pearls of the concert are Šmīdbergs' "Carousel", an opus that premiered in 2007 to great critical acclaim, Maskats' "Capriccio", interpreted by the orchestra's Principal Oboist Egils Upatnieks, and one of the greatest classics of Latvian music - Ivanovs' symphony "Atlantis".

On conductor's podium - the young and brilliant Latvian Andris Poga, whose first concert with the LNSO in 2007 brought him the Great Latvian Music Award for Best Debut.

Programme:

Vilnis Šmīdbergs "Carousel"

Arturs Maskats "Capriccio for Oboe and Chamber Orchestra"

Jānis Ivanovs Symphony No. 4, "Atlantis"
