Francis Goya (born Francis Weyer) was born in Belgium in a family of musicians in 1950. Goya started to play guitar at the age of 13.
In 1966, the musician together with his brother and several friends founded his first band "The Jivaros", whereas in 1970 he joined "The J.J.Band" that toured Europe and Africa.
The musician took on his pseudonym in 1975 when his first internationally-acclaimed single "Nostalgi" was recorded. It was a tune written by his father, to whom Goya dedicated the single. The single was followed by a studio album of the same title, which dominated album charts in Europe and South America.
Goya has released more than 40 records altogether, selling more than 20 million copies worldwide.
