Grand Prix of Nations Rīga 2017 & 3rd European Choir Games

From the 16th to 23rd of July, more than 150 choirs will compete in Riga in 10 different categories. There will also be friendship concerts taking place at outdoor stages, the introduction concert of Latvian Song and Dance Celebration ''Pa zvaigžņu ceļu'' and a Parade of Nations, while concerts at the Riga Dome Cathedral and special events at Arena Riga are also planned.

Most of the Choir Games events will have free entry, which will provide an opportunity for everyone to gain new experiences and to find out about the cultures of different peoples. Alongside the wide range of free events, there will also be specially created concert programs.

Sing along concert - J.Haydn's The Creation oratory

International Sing Along Concerts are the artistic highlight of the most active part of the international choral scene. The project World Festival Singers started in 2015 and unites about 1,400 singers from all continents in spectacular performances of some of the masterpieces of the choral symphonic literature. In 2017 singers from all over the world are invited to Riga for a distinguished performance of Joseph Haydn's The Creation at Riga's Dome Cathedral.

Eurovision Choir of the Year

The Eurovision Choir of the Year is a new television competition of the Eurovision family, which will be taking place in Riga for the first time ever. Choirs from nine EBU (European Broadcasting Union) member-nations: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Hungary, Germany and Wales - will be competing for the title of competition winner. Each choir will perform a six-minute-long program, without accompaniment, in a genre of their choice.

Closing ceremony

The Grand Prix of Nations Riga 2017 and the 3rd European Choir Games will say good-bye to the participants and audience with a magnificent closing concert. The combined festival choir will perform well-known songs and new pieces created specially for this event, which will recall the memories in all of its splendor and the musical diversity experienced during the days of the Choir Games in Riga.
