Heading the evening program - Gabriel Fauré’s decidedly French Requiem for soloists, choir, orchestra, and the entire world. Gregorian resolve, a compassionate caress, and angelic tenderness. The solo performances will be sung by Gunta Gelgote and the German baritone Johannes Held. Performing together will be the Latvian Radio Choir and the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra (LNSO), with the orchestra's artistic director Andris Poga conducting the evening. Performed before Requiem will be some good old chorales and fugues by Bach, arranged for the orchestral palette by 20th century masters and perfect for Holy Thursday.
LNSO. Bach and Faure. Formula for Peace.
