Baltais Fligelis, a very popular place in Sigulda, is one of the most famous concert halls in Latvia. Its quality has been recognised by both professional musicians and audiences.
The Sigulda concert hall "Baltais fligelis" was opened in 2001 with a concert series by Sigulda Music School pupils' entitled "Sigulda's Music Stars". The Concert Hall has a busy concert programme. Famous Latvian musicians have performed here - opera singers Inessa Galante, Antra Bigaca, Kristine Zadovska, Egils Silins and the "Three Latvian Tenors", pianists Vestards Simkus, Diana Ketlere, Katia Skanavi, Armands Abols, Liene Circene, violinist Baiba Skride, cellist Marta Sudraba, composer and pianist Raimonds Pauls, Janis Lusens, Juris Kulakovs, pop musician Ainars Mielavs, and Zigfrids Muktupavels. The poetess and dramatist Mara Zalite has presented her essays here in the programme "Themes and Motives". A concert by world famous musician and violinist Gidons Kremers was organised here. It gave a start to Sigulda's Kremerata Baltica Festival, which has become an important event in Latvian cultural life.
