Art Museums and Exhibition Halls

Abundant information about the development of Latvian and world visual and decorative art can be found in these art museums and viewed in the programs offered by the exhibition halls.

Museum of Decorative Arts and Design

The Museum of Decorative and Design Art is located in the former St. George’s Church building (1204), which is the oldest stone building in Riga. It features seven collections of decorative and design art work.

Art Museum Riga Bourse

The Art Museum Riga Bourse stores the largest collection of foreign art in Baltic States. The collection was started by Riga’s council members, mayors and traders in 19 century. Now museum offers international exhibitions and vide spectrum of culture and arts events.

Latvian National Museum of Art

The Latvian National Museum of Art is one of the most frequently visited sights in Riga. It is the most significant depository in the nation for works of art. Reopened in May 2016, the building itself has been upgraded, modernized but its majestic beauty from a long-gone era - preserved.

Kim? Contemporary Art Centre

kim? Contemporary Art Centre was founded in 2009. The name of kim? is an abbreviation of an insistent question “what is art?" (“kas ir māksla?” in Latvian). The organization is offering a certain range of activities such as exhibitions, lectures, discussions and other events related to recent art, theory and social issues.

Zuzeum Art Center

After renovation in the first half of 2020, the Zuzeum Art Center invites everyone to meet with art in two exhibition halls with a total area of 1,100 square meters, a sculpture garden, a cafe and a roof terrace. The program of exhibitions of the art center will be complemented by excursions, lectures, meditations, film screenings and evenings with DJs.

Riga Art Space

Riga Art Space, in two rooms, is a gallery for modern art and a concert venue.

Romans Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova Museum

The museum, dedicated to the Artists Romans Suta and Aleksandra Beļcova, is a subsidiary of the Latvian National Museum of Art. It is set up in their former residence.

Museum Storage Facility

In the result of implementing project ‘Construction of the museum storages complex’ a modern infrastructure is created for housing and handling the collections of Latvian National History Museum and the Museum of Literature and Music and the foreign art collection and the Latvian art collection of the 1950s to the 21st century of the Latvian National Art Museum.
