Exhibition - Latvian Artists from the Penza Art School

The Penza Art School in Russia is where many young Latvian artists went to study in 1915 at the outbreak of the First World War. Valdemārs Tone, Konrāds Ubāns, Kārlis Johansons, Romans Suta and other young artists from the Riga City Art School wound up at the Penza Art School. The exhibition will be a story about an important period in Latvian modernism and the role this school played in the development of the artists.

The exhibition will feature works by the artists which were created during their studies at the art school, even though some of them have not been dated.
