Documents that attest professional qualifications of Riga tourist guides

Professional qualification of Riga tourist guide according to Clause 7 and Clause 8 of the Binding Provisions is attested by one of the following groups of documents:

1. accredited higher education programmes that grant qualification of a tourist guide, documents attesting the acquisition thereof;

or

2. document that attests acquisition of accredited higher education programme, as well as documents that attest a minimum of three years experience in the tourist guide work (for example, notice that is issued by tour operator or travel agent);

or

3. document that attests acquisition of accredited higher education programme, as well as document that attests acquisition of a licensed tour guide professional development programme;

or

4. document that attests acquisition of accredited higher education programme, as well as document that attests acquisition of applicant's knowledge on tourist guide services in the amount of at least 120 academic hours;

or

5. document that attests acquisition of secondary education, documents that attest no less than ten years of experience in tourist guide work, as well as document that attests acquisition of applicant's knowledge on tourist guide services in the amount of at least 120 academic hours;

 

In addition to the above mentioned documents, qualification of Riga tourist guide is attested by language knowledge for provision of tourist guide services in the necessary level:

1. document that attests knowledge of state language (1st degree of level C) — if it is necessary to certify language proficiency according to procedure provided in the regulatory enactments regarding state language usage;

2. foreign language proficiency in which the applicant wants to provide tourist guide services, document that attests knowledge of at least the average level (for example, documents that attest passing of language acquisition exams in English — TOEFL, IELTS, FCE; French — DELF, DALF, TEF; German — DSD, DSH, KDS; Spanish — DELE; Italian — CILS, CELI, as well as other documents that attest the knowledge of a foreign language, acquisition of a foreign language or acquisition of education in a foreign language).
