Richard Wagner's name is closely connected to Riga, as he once worked as conductor for the Riga City Theater, and it is where he began to compose his famous opera Rienci. The concert will feature this opera's most favorite part - the overture. Orchestra Riga will also perform Tannhauser, Elsa's Procession to the Cathedral and the prelude to act three of Lohengrin. J.S. Bach's Toccata and Fuge in d-minor by the Gemba Fujita wind orchestra will also be peformed. The concert will also feature a performance by organ player Aigars Reinis, who will perform Pēteris Vasks' Laudamus Te, as well as organ music by J.S. Bach.
