The Latvian national team continues its quest to qualify for the World Cup finals for the second time in a row.
In the qualifying tournament, after eight rounds of matches, the Latvian national team is in fourth place with four wins, keeping their hopes of catching up with their rivals alive. For these hopes to be realised, they need to win all their remaining matches - including the one against Israel.
The Israeli national team has secured two wins from eight matches and has already lost any chance of reaching the final tournament.
In the first-round match on 30 August in Riga, the Israeli team led for most of the first half, but after the half-time break, spurred on by the "sixth man" (the Latvian national team’s fans), the Latvian national team took the initiative and won 85 - 70.
