Before heading to the finals of the European Choir Grand Prix competition in Tolosa, the youth choir "Kamēr…" will perform its competition program for Riga's discerning audience and play choral music by Baltic composers.
Just a week later, the youth choir "Kamēr..." and its artistic director and conductor Jurģis Cābulis will travel to Spain to compete for the trophy at the world's fourth most prestigious choir competition, as "Kamēr…" is the only choir in the world to have won three European choir singing "Grand Prix" awards. The geographical coordinates of the competition venue are encoded in the concert title "43.1348° N, 2.0751° W", but the ticket to it was earned a year ago by winning the selection competition in Varna, Bulgaria.
The youth choir "Kamēr..." is one of the calling cards of Latvia and its culture, and is also considered one of the world leaders in choral music, as evidenced by the main prizes it has won in the most prestigious competitions – the European "Grand Prix" (in 2004, 2013 and 2019) and three championship titles at the World Choir Olympics. The choir is a regular guest at festivals in Europe and has also toured the United States and Asia.
