Latvia - Andorra, 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match

In October, the Latvian national team will play two consecutive matches in front of their fans at Daugava Stadium, the first of which will be against Andorra, a familiar opponent in recent history. The two teams opened the World Cup qualifying tournament with a match in March, when the Latvian team won 1-0 away.

We had gotten to know Andorra's team well in previous years, and matches against them had always been difficult. In the Nations League in 2022, we won 3-0 at home, but had to settle for a 1-1 draw away. Two years earlier, in the Nations League cycle, we also had to share the points - 0-0 at home and 5-0 away.

The Latvian national team is playing in the same qualifying group as England, Albania, Serbia and Andorra. The group winner will qualify for the final tournament, which will feature 48 teams for the first time, including 16 from Europe. Four more tickets will be distributed in March 2026 in the play-off stage, which can be reached by finishing second in the subgroup.

As is well known, the 2026 FIFA World Cup finals will be held in three countries in North America: the United States, Canada and Mexico.
