For the first time, the European Magic History Conference will be held in Riga. The 10th European History of Magic Conference (EMHC) will bring together historians, researchers, collectors and scholars of illusionism and magic art from around the world to discuss the latest research and discoveries in the history of illusionism in a series of lectures. Antique magic tricks, memorabilia and posters from various collections will be on display, and the conference will culminate in a performance organised especially for visitors.
From 19-29 August,
will host an exhibition of illustrations from the comic book "Martin Mistere" about the illusionist Harry Houdini by the Italian publishing house Sergio Bonelli Editore in the magnificent lobby of the Splendid Palace cinema. The exhibition will be open from 19 August to 29 August and is free to the public during cinema opening hours.

The opening of the Congress will take place at the historic Riga Circus, where a presentation entitled "Illusionists in the History of the Riga Circus 1888-1916" will reveal the fascinating stories of the magicians who once performed at the Riga Circus (presentation by L.Lipinska). The event will be highlighted by a multimedia performance "Dreamers", featuring amazing world-class performances by Latvian and foreign artists.

"Mystero" Theatre will host lectures by international representatives, historians and researchers of the art of illusionism.

The new autumn season of the Splendid Palace cinema will open with the Art of Magic in Cinema. The opening screening will allow you to experience the art of magic on the big screen, and the highlight will be a screening of Harry Houdini's landmark film Terror Island, accompanied by live piano music. Pianist Rihards Pleshanov will accompany the performance.

The Congress programme includes another highlight at the Mystero Theatre - a performance by the world-famous Italian illusionist Aurelio Paviato, "The Secrets of Illusionist History", in which historical tricks will come to life in a modern interpretation.
