Autumn Chamber Music Festival. Solo recital by Inga Kalna. Wagner, Liszt, Schönberg

Inga Kalna is a sought-after singer of Baroque and Classical opera in Europe, while her passion for chamber music, which she has shared with pianist Diāna Ketlere since her days at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School, has allowed her voice to blossom in a diverse Romantic repertoire. Pianist Diāna Ketlere is a professor at the Royal College of Music in London and the Geneva University of Music. Alongside her concert career, she also leads two prestigious chamber music festivals in Europe.

The jointly curated new programme will feature chamber music gems seldom heard in Latvia and around the world, including Franz Liszt’s songs with surprisingly lyrical melodies and quotations from Liszt’s piano works, the poetically spicy Cabaret Songs by the father of modernism, Arnold Schoenberg, in the spirit of Viennese cabaret theater, as well as Richard Wagner’s unexpectedly intimate cycle with poetry by Mathilde Wesendonck, which springs fresh as a mountain stream over finely carved Alpine reefs.
