Autumn Chamber Music Festival.

Pianist Agnese Egliņa and the clarinettist Guntis Kuzma have collaborated on several programmes and premiered new works written for the duo. The mood and intensity of the programme "Night Conversations" will be maintained by dialogues on different frequencies. At first, we will witness a conversation between a student and a teacher, with Andris Dzenītis’ clarinet sonata telling a story about a man without nature and nature without man. Spoguļos (In the Mirrors) is the title of the new opus, and it is placed alongside his composition pedagogue Marina Gribinčika’s analytical Clarinet Sonata and Pēteris Plakidis’ satirical work Nakts sarunas (Night Conversations).

Two decades ago, we would have been surprised reading the names of Mieczysław Weinberg and Lera Auerbach – these composers were virtually unknown to the Latvian and global public at that time, and it was largely violinist Gidon Kremer who brought them to our attention. Mieczysław Weinberg’s sonata is an emotionally multi-layered work, while Lera Auerbach’s piano miniatures, which are based on Robert Schumann’s cycle Kinderszenen (Scenes from Childhood), evoke childhood memories.
