Clarinettist Artūrs Perts, who refined his skills at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and the Colburn School in Los Angeles, and Evelīna Jēkabsone, who continues the finest traditions of Latvian piano playing, are among the most exciting discoveries in chamber music of the past year!
With their rich programme, this harmonious duo of young artists takes listeners on a journey through different cultural spaces – a visit to the opera theatre together with the lyrical melodies, drama, and virtuoso splendour of Karl Maria von Weber’s Grand Duo Concertant, a viewing of an exhibition of Impressionist paintings in Paris and the world of Claude Debussy’s sounds, a cosy time in a small living room in a small Austrian village, where, by candlelight, one can immerse themselves in the romantic musical story of Johannes Brahms’ Clarinet Sonata No. 1, a gondola ride in Venice accompanied by Felix Mendelssohn’s music, and finally, a peaceful walk in the forests of Latvia while listening to Raivis Misjuns’ poetic compositions.
