On 11 November, as people across Latvia commemorate those who fought for the country’s freedom, the legendary and deeply moving cantata God, Your Land Is Burning! by Lūcija Garūta will be performed by four choirs.
Garūta’s ethereally beautiful music will be performed by Riga Luther Church Choir, Riga Practical Aesthetics Schools mixed choir Anima Mea, Talsi Secondary School No. 2 mixed choir Talsis and Ogre Teachers’ Chamber Choir. The combined choirs will be conducted by Matīss Tučs, Ivars Krauze, and Jēkabs Krists Kalniņš.
The performance will also feature tenor Mārtiņš Zvīgulis and bass Eduards Vācietis as soloists, with Ruta Kaprāne at the organ. In addition to Garūta’s cantata, the choirs will perform compositions by Pēteris Vasks and Uģis Prauliņš.
