On 28 June, Riga’s Daugava waterfront will host one of the most unusual events of the summer – the 100th anniversary of Latvian sailing and an official GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS attempt for the “Most people simultaneously blowing foghorns.”
From 18:00 to 18:30, hundreds of sailors and water sports enthusiasts gathered on the Daugava between the Vanšu Bridge and the Riga Passenger Port will sound their foghorns at the same time in an attempt to set a new world record. Immediately afterwards, visitors can enjoy the spectacular Gulf of Riga Regatta (GoRR) yacht parade, marking the start of the largest offshore sailing regatta in the Baltic States.
The best place to experience the event is the Riga Passenger Port, where a festive atmosphere will prevail throughout the day with activities for visitors, a hosted programme, and opportunities to see the yachts up close. It is a unique chance to discover Latvia’s sailing traditions, celebrate a century of sailing history, and watch the Daugava transform into an impressive waterfront stage in the heart of Riga.
