As the sun begins to sink towards the horizon and the sea is bathed in golden hues, the sounds of the organ will drift across Vecāķi Beach. Arrangements created especially for this evening, tailored to the mood of the sunset — music that echoes the changing colours of the sky and the water.
At the organ — Ilona Birģele, one of the most acclaimed and best-known Latvian organists outside Latvia, Principal Organist at St James’s Cathedral in Riga and Artistic Director of the ‘Latvia – Land of Organs’ Historical Organ Festival. She will be joined on stage by Ilona Bagele, a mezzo-soprano and soloist with the Latvian National Opera and Ballet — an artist with extensive experience in academic, jazz and popular music, whose voice is familiar to audiences from the LNOB stage and numerous concert programmes throughout Latvia.
