The new ‘ĪRGA’ Centre for Traditional Culture and Crafts is opening in Riga, bringing together craftsmanship, traditional culture, Livonians/Liivs heritage and contemporary cultural experiences. On the opening day, visitors can enjoy creative workshops, craft demonstrations, concerts and opportunities to meet masters of folk applied arts.
The centre will also host the exhibitions “The Beginning” and “The Mask Cupboard”, as well as the new interactive exhibition “Living Memory”. The celebrations will culminate in a concert event, ‘ĪRGA – The Beginning’, taking place from 8.00 pm to 11.00 pm. The performance will symbolically mark the creation of a new cultural venue and the continuation of traditional practices in a contemporary urban environment.
