Service of Animal Blessing at St. Saviour’s Anglican Church

Animal blessing is a beautiful tradition that has been celebrated in many churches for many years, particularly around the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi on October 4, remembering Francis’ special love for all of creation. During the Season of Creation, we too want to give thanks for the animals with whom we share our lives, and for the beauty and diversity of God’s creation.

From 5:00–6:00 PM, everyone is welcome to bring their pets to the church garden to receive a blessing, enjoy a refreshment, and hear stories of gratitude from others about their beloved animals.
If your pet might feel anxious around other animals or people, you are very welcome to bring a photograph of them instead, and to carry your prayer of thanksgiving for them home with you.
At 6:00 PM, we will gather in the church for a Service of Thanksgiving for our animal companions, both present and past. The service will also be available to join online.

The event will be held in English and Latvian
