The concert will feature true gems of the symphonic repertoire – works that have stood the test of time and remain audience favourites to this day. Johannes Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 1 is one of the most personal works of the Romantic era, intertwining grief and unfulfilled longing with the composer’s determination to follow his own path. Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, meanwhile, stands among the towering achievements of the symphonic repertoire, its overwhelming power giving way to moments of extraordinary fragility and lyricism, most notably in the legendary Adagietto. The internationally acclaimed Lithuanian conductor Giedrė Šlekytė will make her LNSO debut.
