Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s symphonic output concluded with three outstanding symphonies composed in the summer of 1788. On 11 December, the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra will perform the first of this trilogy, Symphony No. 39, whose home key is the warm E-flat major. Here, classical clarity is combined with an ever-increasing sense of drama, once again demonstrating the development of the composer’s mastery. Dvořák’s Hero’s Song takes listeners along the paths of an artist’s struggle and triumph, while his Cello Concerto offers a glimpse into one of the finest examples of the genre in music history through the artistry of outstanding French cellist Edgar Moreau.
