In his programmes British conductor Duncan Ward, praised for delicate and precise interpretations, often casts bridges between different musical eras and styles. This is true also in the case of Riga concert, with the youthful talent whisking us away first to the cosy candlelit chambers of 18th century Vienna and then to the grand balls under splendid chandeliers and brightly illuminated streets of its later period.
