Franz Schubert’s move to bustling Vienna marked a significant turning point in his life – alongside a quantitatively and qualitatively impressive creative burst, the talented Austrian also gained a wide circle of friends and like-minded people in the metropolis full of life’s temptations. The initially shy young man soon became the life and soul of the party and, despite balancing on the brink of poverty, regularly held lively soirées surrounded by good friends, great music, and refreshing drinks. Over time, this tradition became known as the “Schubertiade” and has continued for more than two centuries, well beyond the walls of the cozy salons of the Austrian capital.
