August 7–8, 2026, in Riga, the renovated speedway track at the CSDD Biķernieki Circuit will host two world-class speedway races, bringing together the world’s fastest and most skilled speedway riders to treat spectators to breathtaking battles for victory!
On August 7, 2026, the second semifinal of the FIM Speedway World Cup (SWC) will take place "2026 11.lv FIM Speedway World Cup Semi-Final 2 – Riga", and on August 8, 2026, the eighth round of the World Speedway Championship (SGP) season, the "2026 DeWALT FIM Speedway GP of Latvia - Riga", will take place.
In 2026, Riga will host an unprecedented spectacle of speedway racing, with adult riders competing on two consecutive evenings at the renovated Biķernieki track - first in team events, and then battling for individual honors.
The world speedway festivities in Riga will kick off with the second semifinal of the "11.lv" FIM Speedway World Cup - in which Latvia’s national team will be led to victory by our top rider, Andžejs Ļebedevs. The Latvian team will face off against the teams from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway. The FIM Speedway World Cup is the most significant team competition in the global speedway hierarchy, and the event is divided into three stages - beginning with two semifinals, followed by the grand final.
In 2025, when the "FIM Speedway Grand Prix" round was held at the Biķernieki track for the third time, Latvia’s leading rider, Andžejs Ļebedevs, took the top spot on the podium to the delight of Latvian fans. Meanwhile, Australian rider Brady Kertz claimed his first victory in Riga. In the 2026 SGP season, he will certainly be determined to take on six-time world champion Bartosz Zmarzlik, who has won twice in Riga.
