Chamber music concert - Reich Phase

The chamber music event Reich Phase will mark the milestone birthday of American composer Steve Reich over the course of two evenings.

On both evenings, the audience will have the opportunity to experience notable chamber music works from various periods of the musician's career. Violinist Marta Spārniņa will perform Violin Phase (1967) - one of Steve Reich’s early works for solo violin and tape, which today, nearly 60 years later, has become the most striking testament to the composer’s "phasing period. The Perona Quartet -Konstantīns Paturskis (violin), Aleksejs Bahirs (violin), Pēteris Trasuns (viola), and Dace Zālīte-Zilberte (cello), will premiere in Latvia the master’s tribute to the victims of the September 11 terrorist attacks - the string quartet WTC 9/11 (2010). Under the baton of conductor Normunds Šnē, the musicians of Sinfonietta Rīga and Perons Percussion, together with pianists Rihards Plešanovs and Evelīna Jēkabsone, as well as a quartet of vocalists led by Viktorija Majore, will perform the monumental piece Tehillim (1981).
