Australian pianist Andrew Keese, together with musician Julian Lyngcoln, presents a unique "contemporary ambient" concert experience, featuring an unusual combination of acoustic concert grand piano, nuanced rhythmic electronics and Erica Synths synthesizers. The music is characterised by meditative introspection and restrained expression.
Andrew Keese is an Australian composer, pianist and multi-instrumentalist whose diverse oeuvre combines elements of neo-classical, ambient and post-rock music.
His forthcoming album Minutiae has been described as "a crystal clear expression of how the natural resonance of the piano can interact in a meaningful way with subtle shades of electronics created by synthesizers and digital effects." Keese himself describes the album Illuminator, released in July this year, as "an important and ambitious step forward in his artistic development, with music that is more intense, multi-layered and contains rhythmically complex, sometimes even atonal elements.
The concert will be performed using the Steampipe physical modulation synthesiser manufactured by the internationally renowned Latvian company Erica Synths, which has attracted the interest of the Australian-based musician.
