Exhibition Design Processes in Close-up: Spring

Celebrating its 35th anniversary, the Museum of Decorative Arts and Design (MDAD) in collaboration with the Design Export Alliance is launching a new series of pop-up exhibitions that will reflect current developments in Latvian contemporary design.

The four pop-up exhibitions will be on show until the end of the year. All of them have been implemented in an innovative format, integrated into the permanent exhibition on the 3rd floor of the MDAD. The concept and the visual design of the exhibitions are inspired by one of the four seasons: spring, summer, autumn or winter. The mood will be set by the colour palette of the season, highlighting Latvian design's traditionally strong connection to organic forms, the use of natural materials and textures.

Each exhibition will showcase the "success stories" of several well-known companies through a careful selection of samples and audiovisual elements. Specially prepared video stories will reveal the process and behind-the-scenes of the brands' products. The first pop-up exhibition Spring offers an insight into the work of brands such as Vaidava Ceramics, Mammalampa, Articul (Riga Chair Factory), Madara Cosmetics, Mint and Livette's Wallpaper. Its idea and visual language will make visitors think of the first green leaf sprouts and the colours of freshly ploughed earth.
