Olympic basketball qualification tournament in Riga

From July 2 to 7, six men's national teams will compete in Riga for a sole ticket to this summer's Paris Olympics - Latvia, Brazil, Montenegro, Georgia, the Philippines and Cameroon. Tickets to the Olympic qualification tournament in Riga will go on sale from March 6.

The teams will be divided into two sub-groups of three in the tournament's first stage. Latvia will play in Group A against the Philippines and Georgia. The top two teams will advance to the tournament's semifinals on July 6, where they will play the top two teams in Group B - Brazil, Montenegro and Cameroon (A1 vs B2 and B1 vs A2).

The winners of the two semifinal matches will then meet in the final on July 7 for the sole qualification spot in the Paris Olympics.

July 2 - Latvia vs Georgia, Brazil vs Montenegro

July 3 - Latvia vs the Philippines, Montenegro vs Cameroon

July 4 - Georgia vs the Philippines, Cameroon vs Brazil

July 6 - A1 vs B2, B1 vs A2

July 7 - final

Three other Olympic qualification tournaments will be held in Greece (Piraeus), Puerto Rico (San Juan) and Spain (Valencia). Only the winners of the four qualification tournaments will qualify for the Paris Olympics.

Eight countries have already qualified for the Paris Olympics - hosts France, as well as seven teams for their performance at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup - Germany and Serbia (Europe zone), Canada and the United States (Americas zone), Australia (Oceania zone), Japan (Asia zone) and South Sudan (Africa zone). The Olympic basketball tournament in Paris will take place from July 27 to August 10.
