As the 107th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Latvia approaches, a special and unique concert will take place, dedicated to our nation’s birthday and its spiritual heritage. This evening will be a musical journey through eras and emotions – from deep inner meditation to an uplifting festive atmosphere.
Performers:
Viktorija Majore – soprano
Edgars Ošleja – bass
Diāna Jaunzeme-Portnaja – organ
LNSO String Ensemble
The concert program will feature music by Latvian composers Jāzeps Mediņš, Andrejs Jurjāns, Aivars Kalējs, Jānis Ivanovs, Jāzeps Vītols, Lūcija Garūta, Rihards Dubra, Emīls Dārziņš, and Raimonds Tiguls. Each of these composers has left a unique mark on Latvia’s cultural history, and on this evening, their works will once again unite listeners in a shared festive spirit. A special highlight of the program will be Latvian composer Uldis Stabulnieks song “Tik un tā” (Nevertheless), performed by organ, soloists, and string quartet.
The evening’s special accent will be a light visualization that will lend the music an even deeper emotional dimension and transform the historic interior of St. John’s Church into a radiant festive scene.
