The ambitious, spectacular, contemporary, and at the same time retrospective dance performance "Viļņošanās" (Undulation) is an ode to the recklessness of youth; it casts traditional values in a new, modern light and speaks to today’s younger generation. The production combines the expressive and once-very-popular stage dances created by Imants Magone with choreography created specifically for this performance. It blends and intertwines the diverse tones and threads of dance—from the steps of Latvian stage folk dance to the dynamic rhythms of the once-popular stage and disco dances.
This dance performance is conceived as a tribute and a monument to Imants Magone’s contribution to the creative journey of the folk dance ensemble "Liesma" (Flame) and the development of stage dance. This outstanding dance master was once inspired by the turning points in Latvia’s cultural landscape during the 1970s and 1980s, particularly the "golden age" of the Poligrāfiķu disco, which boasted the trendiest parties amidst the grayness of the Soviet era.
