The exhibition will feature works by fourteen emerging and internationally recognized foreign and Latvian artists, encouraging visitors not only to observe, but also to listen and interact - from the opportunity to discover the hidden life of forest ecosystems and feel the rhythm of ocean waves to an invitation to lose oneself in time or even, for a moment, become a fly-man.
The exhibition Climate imagination explores climate as the field of cultural and scientific inquiry where art, technology, and environmental research converge. From microscopic organisms, plant worlds, and botanical fantasy to ecological symbiosis, artificial life, and hybrid systems - artists use imagination as a critically important ability to perceive and rethink our relationship with the Earth at a time when climate change is posing a challenge to the planet’s ecosystem and everyday life.
In addition, on October 22 and 23, the RIXC Art and Science Symposium will take place at the National Library of Latvia and online. This year, the festival will bring together international researchers and cultural professionals, offering discussions, artistic experiments, and interactive workshops to collectively explore how art and science can expand our imagination of climate change.
The symposium programme is available here.
Advance registration for the symposium is required via the Eventbrite platform.
