To support Riga’s development and put the city on the world cinema map as an attractive filming destination, the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency (RITA) is inviting applications for Riga Film Fund co-financing for 2027.

The Riga Film Fund is a municipal co-financing programme that has been bringing international film projects to Riga since 2010. These productions help local film professionals and service providers grow, while giving foreign producers the chance to discover Riga’s advantages first-hand and return with their next projects.
Applications are now open for Riga Film Fund 2027 co-financing for foreign film projects to be shot in Riga and Latvia in 2027. Under the programme’s terms, up to 25% of eligible expenditure incurred in Latvia can be recovered once filming has been completed. Costs are eligible from the date the application is submitted. Applications for the first round of the call must be submitted by 15 November 2026 (inclusive), while filming must be completed and the final report submitted by 30 November 2027. More information is available here.
In the 2026 call, Riga Film Fund co-financing was awarded to international film and television projects developed in cooperation with producers from Germany and Belgium. The supported projects include Cinevilla Films’ “Cirks” (working title) and “Terra X. Ein Tag in Pompeji 79 nach Christus”, as well as Mistrus Media’s feature film “Strokes of Madness”.
“The Riga Film Fund is an investment that pays off for the city. Since the fund covers no more than a quarter of eligible costs, every euro it invests means at least four euros invested here by foreign producers. This money goes to local film professionals, equipment rental companies, hotels, and transport and catering businesses. It strengthens Latvia’s film industry and brings jobs and revenue to the city’s businesses, while Riga gains the chance to appear on screens all over the world. We invite producers to choose Riga for their next story,”
says RITA Director Fredis Bikovs.
